The October 14, 2026 Permafrost update reduces Coal costs, increases Moon Rock yields and lets Hopes and Dreams’ recording objective advance by playing the recording from your Journal. It also changes the Disassembly Bench’s iron ingredient and fixes equipment-related and multiplayer Moon Rock crashes.

Use the updated coal entry in the materials database and smelter chain. The basic Iron Pickaxe still has a misleading Moon Rock description; the current Known Issues post requires the Quality Iron Pickaxe.
Replay Hopes and Dreams from the Journal
For a blocked Listen To Recording step, play the recording from your Journal after updating. The October 14 announcement says this can now complete the objective and let previously stuck players continue. This supersedes the October 11 announcement’s warning that an older glitched recording save would need a future patch.
The earlier hotfix also allows High Frequency to finish while Hopes and Dreams remains active. Early tower repairs are a separate remaining issue; the developer still warns that repairing before the quest starts may fail to register.
Crash and world fixes
The update addresses equipment crashes and a co-op crash during Moon Rock collection. It also repairs several misplaced world objects and specific floors, stairs and an elevator-shaft fall spot. Those are documented fixes, not proof that every crash or navigation problem has disappeared.
For a persistent failure, use the crash guide and record the installed build, last successful action and exact error. The current issue post still provides graphics-setting workarounds.
Workarounds still listed by the developer
- Skinwalker reward: skip the dialogue ending with Space; the host should open the box alone in co-op.
- Lost quest key: when it is missing from inventory and reward chest, speak to Anna or Skinwalker for a replacement.
- Early quest actions: a blueprint looted, tower repaired or house built before the relevant objective can still fail to register.
- Lunar recipes: study them before handing them to Jeremy; their tailoring name is Permafrost.
- House Camp Flipper: the craftable fast travel point reward unlock is still reported broken.
- Guests may still see only the host dog’s harness, and custom map markers may disappear after relaunch.
