If the Permafrost Skinwalker box is empty or the reward does not appear, speak with Skinwalker again and use Space to skip through to the end of his dialogue. In co-op, have the host perform Skinwalker's quest steps and open the reward box alone. These are supported workarounds, not a guarantee that every previously blocked save will recover.
Also check what is actually missing. An empty reward box, a missing crafting recipe, a blueprint taken before its quest was active, and a lost quest key are different problems. The current update can reissue a missing key through Skinwalker when that key is absent from both your inventory and the reward chest. That key recovery does not establish that every missing blueprint can be regenerated the same way.
Data version: Numerical recipe or quest entries from MetaBot use its 0.44.2.4634-milestone export. This is a source reference, not confirmation that every entry remains available after later patches.
Read the objective before reopening the box
Open the Journal and identify the active Skinwalker task. During The Way Home, the story asks you to collect the reward associated with him before moving through the tailoring and clothing preparation. Reaching his tower or finishing a conversation is not necessarily the same as collecting the box's contents.
Check whether the Journal still asks you to collect the blueprints or reward. If it has already moved to building the Tailoring Bench or crafting clothes, the immediate question is whether the recipe is available at the appropriate menu. Repeatedly opening a cleared box will not tell you which later requirement remains.

NPC-identification reference. Check your active quest and reward separately; this view does not show the missing blueprint-box contents.
The Hunter's Glade quest reward includes a Utility Backpack and access to the Tailoring Bench recipe. Inspect the recipe and your inventory as well as the chest. This prevents you from diagnosing the appearance of the box while overlooking an unlock that has already happened.
Do not take a blueprint during exploration and assume the later quest will automatically count it. A blueprint collected before its quest activates can fail to register. If that happened in your save, record the order. It is a registration problem with a specific earlier action, and the dialogue workaround should be treated as an attempt rather than a promised repair.
Finish Skinwalker's dialogue with Space
Return to Skinwalker and speak with him again. Continue the quest conversation and use Space to skip to its end, then check the reward interaction. The purpose is to let the dialogue reach the point associated with the blueprint reward.
Follow a deliberate sequence:
- Check the exact objective currently shown in the Journal.
- Talk to Skinwalker about the active quest.
- Use Space to skip through the conversation to its end.
- Leave the conversation and inspect the reward box.
- Check whether the missing recipe is now available.
- Read the Journal again before leaving Hunter's Glade.
A useful result is the reward appearing or the recipe becoming available and the collection objective advancing. A dialogue ending successfully by itself does not confirm that the reward registered. Check the result in the menus rather than assuming the conversation fixed the save.
If nothing changes, note whether the chest is absent, visible but empty, or visible but cannot be opened. Those symptoms are not interchangeable. A screenshot of the actual box and active objective helps show which state persists after the supported attempt.
Have the host open the reward box alone
The current co-op guidance assigns Skinwalker's quest steps to the host. Have the host lead the dialogue and perform the reward interaction. When the box becomes available, the host should open it alone rather than having several players attempt to collect it at once.
Guests can help prepare materials or travel with the group, but keep the quest reward action under the host's control. This is particularly useful for a group that has not yet taken the reward, because it follows the recommended sequence before the possible failure point.
If a guest already opened the box, do not claim that returning as host will certainly restore it. Have the host inspect the remaining interactions and attempt the supported dialogue sequence, then compare the Journal and blueprint state. The result determines whether there is still a recovery route available in that world.
Resume the same host world for these checks. Characters are world-bound, so moving to another world produces a different progression context. It does not prove that the original reward box or quest flag has been repaired.
Distinguish a missing recipe from missing ingredients
If the Tailoring Bench recipe is available, you have moved beyond the missing-recipe part of the reward problem. Building it still requires materials and a valid construction position. The Tailoring Bench requires 15 Wood and 3 Copper Ingots.

A visible recipe and missing construction materials are separate from a missing reward unlock.
Use processed Copper Ingots, not raw Copper ore. If your earlier radio construction used the available Copper materials, prepare the additional ingots before trying to build the bench. An unlocked recipe that cannot be constructed because ingredients are missing should not be treated as an empty Skinwalker reward.
The Way Home then asks for the Tribal clothing preparation. Check the clothing blueprints and the Tailoring Bench, and use the exact active Journal requirements to identify what you still need. Building the bench alone does not complete the clothing objectives.
Use the Tanning Rack to prepare the hide materials needed by the clothing. If the requested clothing recipe is visible but a required ingredient is unavailable, address that ingredient rather than returning to the reward box repeatedly. The important diagnostic distinction is between no recipe, a visible locked recipe, and an available recipe with insufficient materials.
A successful craft should be checked against the Journal. An item appearing in inventory and the relevant quest objective updating are both useful observations. If the clothing is produced but the objective remains, describe that exact mismatch instead of labeling the reward box empty.
Use the current key replacement only for a missing key
The newer quest update adds a recovery route for lost keys: if the key is missing from both the inventory and the reward chest, speaking with Anna or Skinwalker can reissue it. For a Skinwalker-related key problem, inspect those two places first, then return to the relevant conversation.
This condition matters. A key still in the box has not been lost, and a key already carried needs its intended use. The replacement behavior is not a blanket refill command for an empty chest.
If your Journal names Rise Above the Cold, check for Skinwalker's Key rather than the tailoring blueprint. That task takes the key from his storage box, sends you into the Cold Zone in the center of House Camp, and asks you to open the box there for Skinwalker's Trophy before reporting back. The key opens the suitcase at the top of his construction in House Camp. Those are different collection objects from the Hunter's Glade blueprint reward. Identify the key and the active task before applying the replacement condition.
If your blocked objective is collecting a blueprint, do not describe the key update as a confirmed blueprint replacement. Use the dialogue and host-only box workarounds for the reward issue, and report the remaining recipe or objective failure if they do not help.
Check the result before continuing toward House Camp
Before you leave, verify the state that corresponds to your objective:
| Blocked stage | Result to check |
|---|---|
| Collecting Skinwalker's reward | The box provides the intended reward and the collection step advances |
| Unlocking the Tailoring Bench | The recipe is available in the building menu |
| Building the Tailoring Bench | The constructed bench is available for the next crafting stage |
| Preparing Tribal clothing | The required recipes can be crafted and their objectives update |
| Recovering a lost key | The relevant key is present again after meeting the replacement condition |
The intended story continuation goes toward House Camp after the clothing preparation. Do not make the trip solely because the chest looks cleared. Check that the Journal has moved to the next supported objective, so you know which action to perform at your destination.
Report a reward that remains unavailable
If finishing the dialogue with Space and having the host open the box alone does not restore the missing reward, preserve the current world. There is no confirmed universal reset sequence for every older save affected by this issue.
Record the exact quest and objective, whether the box is missing or empty, and which blueprint or item is unavailable. Include whether a blueprint was taken before quest activation, whether a guest performed the dialogue or box interaction, and whether the problem existed before the current quest update.
For a useful report, capture the Journal, the box contents, and the relevant recipe menu. Include the installed version or build if it is shown by your installation, plus the save and logs through the developer reporting process. Do not replace these details with only a photograph of Skinwalker; the team needs the reward and progression state.
Stop repeating the same interaction once it produces the same documented failure. Keep the save available for investigation and continue only with other objectives that are actually offered. The supported workarounds give you a clear attempt to make, while the menu and Journal checks show whether that attempt really unblocked the reward.
