Spend Permafrost blueprint points on the next usable step in your crafting chain: the tools you need, then the station or survival equipment that removes your current bottleneck. Leave optional furniture and decoration until your immediate progression needs are covered.
This is a practical priority order rather than a confirmed single route for every starting setup. The full current Early Access blueprint tree and all prerequisite costs are not established here. Use the unlocks visible in your game, especially when a recipe is obtained from a story reward instead of a point purchase.
Data version: Numerical recipe or quest entries from MetaBot use its 0.44.2.4634-milestone export. This is a source reference, not confirmation that every entry remains available after later patches.
Start with the result you need next
Before spending, name the item or action that is blocking you. “Better crafting” is too broad; “make the required clothing” or “obtain the tool required for this resource” gives you a useful target.
Work backward from that target:
- Identify the finished item the active task needs.
- Check whether you already know its recipe.
- Identify the station needed to make it.
- Check the ingredients you can actually obtain.
- Spend points on the missing available unlock that connects those steps.
A station with no useful recipe or obtainable input will not solve your immediate problem. Likewise, buying an attractive tool recipe without checking the required material can leave you with a learned item you still cannot make.
Use a simple spending priority
The order below is a decision framework. Check the live recipe and prerequisites before treating any entry as your next purchase.
| Priority | Spend toward | Practical reason |
|---|---|---|
| First | A required gathering or everyday tool | It opens the material or action you currently need |
| Next | The workstation that produces a required input | It connects gathered resources to your target recipe |
| Next | Clothing or survival equipment needed for the next route | It makes the intended trip feasible |
| Later | Storage or furniture that solves a real base problem | It improves your existing routine after its basic needs work |
| Optional | Decoration and trophies | Buy them when no urgent point-funded step is waiting |
Do not buy every available entry simply because you have just gained points. Keeping points unspent is reasonable when you cannot yet identify which unlock will be useful. The decision becomes clearer once your next material, station, or quest requirement is visible.
Buy the missing link in a clothing chain
Clothing shows why this order matters. Knowing a clothing recipe is only one part of the chain. The Tailoring Bench makes the garment, while the Tanning Rack supplies Treated Hide from pelts and Animal Fat.
The Tanning Rack building blueprint costs 2 blueprint points in the supplied crafting walkthrough. Use the Building Tool and the Utilities tab to place it after unlocking. Check its displayed placement requirements in your game before spending your last construction materials.

The rack supplies a clothing ingredient; this view shows its output recipes, not its building blueprint cost.
If the required clothes are already learned but you cannot make Treated Hide, the rack is the relevant missing production step. Buying an unrelated clothing recipe or decorative building set does not provide that ingredient.
Keep a tool purchase tied to its resource
For Moonstone, the confirmed requirement is the Quality Iron Pickaxe. The ordinary Iron Pickaxe description is misleading. If that is your immediate gathering goal, another basic iron tool does not resolve it.
No full current Quality Iron Pickaxe recipe or blueprint acquisition path is established here. Confirm the actual recipe and its requirements before assigning points to an assumed tool chain. An old progression list does not establish the purchase route in the current release.
Read the cost on the selected entry
Hold the entry in the Blueprints tab to spend its displayed Blueprint Points cost. Check whether you selected a building, an individual recipe, or a set before doing so.
Several useful station entries cost two points: Workbench, Stone Furnace, Tanning Rack, and Tailoring Bench. Their output recipes remain separate entries. A station unlock is therefore one step in a chain, not proof that every item associated with it is ready to craft.
A set can also teach several named items together. Read the contents and your already learned recipes before deciding whether the set serves your current target. Do not add together an old full-tree total when you only need one missing part of the chain.
For a recipe obtained through a story reward, check the reward step before buying the same output. The exact choice depends on what you have already learned, what the active quest grants, and what you can currently craft.
Claim story recipes through their rewards
Some recipes come through quests. Do not assume that a missing recipe must be bought with blueprint points when the active objective directs you to a reward box.
The Hybrid clothing recipes are a useful example. During Breaking the Radio Silence, progression leads back to Anna after Icarus's message on the Church roof. When the objective becomes Collect the blueprints from Anna, open her quest reward box. It unlocks Hybrid Boots, Gloves, Jacket, Hat, and Pants.
The earlier Tailoring Bench comes from Skinwalker's reward at Hunter's Glade. Those unlocks belong to the story-reward part of the chain, so check the active objective and claimed reward before searching the point tree for a replacement.

Claim the quest reward when the objective reaches blueprint collection.
In co-op, have the host perform main story and Skinwalker steps. The host should open Skinwalker's reward box alone; skipping his dialogue with Space can help the blueprints appear. A blueprint picked up before its quest is active can fail to register, so let the quest reach the collection step before taking the reward.
Distinguish an unlock problem from a naming problem
A missing-looking recipe can also be a naming mismatch. The Hybrid crafting objective can say Craft Utility Boots even though the unlocked recipe is Hybrid Boots. For this Hybrid crafting objective, use Hybrid Boots. Buying a separate Utility Boots recipe does not resolve that task label.
For Lunar blueprints, study them before giving them to Jeremy. The resulting clothing is listed as Permafrost at the Tailoring Bench. Check that name at the station before deciding the blueprint failed.
These checks matter because point spending cannot repair a quest collection that has not registered, or make a differently named recipe easier to find. Identify the actual missing condition first.
Check availability before chasing a listed blueprint
A blueprint appearing in your inventory does not prove that its finished item is currently available. The Refined Flint Sledgehammer is not available in the current game even if a blueprint drops.
Avoid reserving a large material run or spending unrelated points to chase that unavailable result. The recipe's presence, the ability to use it, and the finished item are separate checks in Early Access.
For any uncertain unlock, confirm what your game currently shows: learned recipe, required station, accessible ingredients, and a craftable output. That keeps the next point purchase tied to something you can use, while preserving points for the next clear bottleneck.
