Equipment
- Trip input
- Metal Junk or another item with a confirmed relevant dismantling output
- Station
- Accessible Dismantling Workbench; check the existing Church bench if needed
- Return protection
- Equipped cold protection and a known warming stop appropriate to the route
Best for
Players short of Scrap for one specific tool, station or advanced material recipe.
Avoid if
You cannot reach or identify a dismantling station, or you want a guaranteed timed respawn farming route.
How it works
Metal Junk is the salvage input. Dismantling produces Scrap; the crafting target then needs that finished output in your character inventory.
Equipment priority
| Priority | Equipment | Instruction |
|---|---|---|
| First | The exact target recipe | Read its ingredient names and quantity before collecting more salvage. |
| Before crafting | Dismantling station and salvage | Check the displayed output, process the salvage and retrieve the finished Scrap. |
Build order
- Select a target recipe and inspect its Scrap requirement.
- Identify an accessible dismantling bench and the return warming stop.
- Check reachable loose salvage and containers on the chosen route.
- Dismantle the relevant salvage and check the actual output.
- Carry the finished Scrap to the crafting station and verify that the target recipe recognizes it.
How to play
Finish one useful conversion before extending the trip to a second distant search area. Reassess warmth and available inventory space as you collect.
What can break the build
Container drops and already-looted pickups are not guaranteed. Metal Junk, Scrap and Quality Metal are different items; companion or chest storage may leave the recipe inputs unavailable.
Evidence limit
This is an editorial material-run plan based on cited station guidance and the existing Scrap guide. It has no independently measured yield, capacity, trip time or replenishment guarantee. Check the installed build's item and station prompts.
